The Didion Foundation supports RCF Food for Families because every child deserves to return to school on Monday nourished, focused and ready to learn.
During the school week, many students have access to breakfast and lunch through their schools. But when Friday afternoon comes, that support does not always stretch through the weekend.
For some families, that creates a quiet question before Monday arrives: will there be enough food at home until school meals are available again?
Randolf Cambria-Friesland (RCF) Food for Families was created to help bridge that weekend gap for students in the two school districts. The program provides food support throughout the school year, helping families get from Friday afternoon to Monday morning with care, confidentiality and dignity.
The need is real. Roughly 34% of students across the two districts qualify for free or reduced-price meals, and program leaders expect more families may need support during the 2026-27 school year.
This year, the Didion Foundation is helping that support go further.
At the annual Didion Foundation’s Strong Communities Golf Outing on August 19, the Foundation named RCF Food for Families as its 2026 recipient and announced a $20,000 gift to help sustain the program. The Foundation also launched a community match, inviting neighbors, businesses and organizations to join in. Every new dollar given to RCF Food for Families will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000, through December 31, 2026.

Feeding students close to home
For Didion, supporting the program reflects a simple belief: strong communities take care of one another.

How You Can Help
The Didion Foundation match gives the community a simple way to multiply its support for RCF Food for Families.
A $25 gift becomes $50. A $500 gift becomes $1,000.
Together, those gifts can help keep shelves stocked and students ready to learn when they return to class each Monday.
Donations made by December 31, 2026 qualify for the Didion Foundation match, up to the $10,000 total match limit.
