Name: Hudson Stramel
Title: Milling Intern
University: Kansas State University

What drew you to intern with Didion?

I participated in the onsite interview with Didion at K-State and felt very welcomed by the team members I spoke with. I really liked that they made it seem like this internship is for me and that they wanted me to be successful. Shortly after my interview, Didion offered me the opportunity to intern in both the summer and winter, which was amazing because my last internship was completely virtual, so I never had the chance to work in the mill.

What impactful projects have you worked on/are you currently working on?

My project for the summer is optimizing the tempering and degermer systems. Through these projects, I’ve had the opportunity to work with teammates in a variety of departments, like engineering, maintenance, millwrights and millers.

What attracted you to the milling/manufacturing profession?

Growing up in rural Kansas on a show pig farm and my involvement in 4-H drove my passion for the agriculture industry. I thought this would be a good career opportunityI like to be out in the field, working on equipment and seeing results from my efforts.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time, I love hunting and fishing back in Kansas. I love baseball – going to games, playing in games and watching my little brothers play. I have coached my brothers since they were little, so it is exciting to help them and watch them grow.
